§101.   District agriculture extension agents.

     §101.  District agriculture extension agents.
     There shall be a maximum of 20 State agriculture extension agents appointed by and under the supervision of the Chief of Agriculture and Forestry or whomever he shall delegate to act for him.  All appointments must receive the approval of the Speaker of the Legislature before becoming effective.  The Governor shall designate one agent as foreman.

     §102.  Removal of agents.
     The Chief of Agriculture and Forestry may at any time remove any agent from office for good cause.

     §103.  Assignment of agents.
     The agents shall be assigned as follows:

     (a)  Sixteen agents to the municipalities of Yap Islands Proper;

     (b)  Four agents, or so many as shall be determined as necessary by the Chief of Agriculture and Forestry up to a maximum of four, among the Outer Islands.

     §104.  Duties.
     The State agriculture extension agents shall have the following duties:
 
     (a)  Assisting and educating local farmers in coconut planting, thinning and bushing, copra processing, and vegetable and fruit crop production;

     (b)  Demonstrating new agricultural techniques;

     (c)  Assisting the operation of the Farmers' Market; and

     (d)  Assisting in the promotion of an annual agricultural fair.

     §105.  Working hours.
     Working hours in Yap and the Outer Islands shall be established by the Chief of Agriculture and Forestry or whomever he shall designate to act for him.  In no case shall an agent work more than 30 hours in one week.

     §106.  Compensation.
     State agricultural extension agents shall be compensated at the rate specified by the Legislature and shall be paid on an hourly basis.
