     § 1102.  Definition.
The plane coordinates of a point on the surface of the earth used in designating the position on such point in this system shall consist of two distances expressed in meters and decimals of a meter.  One of those distances, to be known as the "X-coordinate," shall be in the east-west direction, and positions north and south shall be taken from it.  The other, to be known as the "Y-coordinate," shall be in the north-south direction and positions east and west shall be taken from it.  These coordinates shall be made to depend on and conform to the coordinates of the Truk Chuuk-Neoch Coordinate System as established by triangulation and/or traversing done by the United States Geological Survey Team work of 1969-1970, established by a "Memorandum of Understanding" between the Acting Director of the U.S. Geological Survey and the High Commissioner of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, Department of the Interior (1968).
