Extension Services and Training Program.
(1) The funds appropriated shall be used to establish an agriculture extension services and training program to transfer progressive farming techniques and to encourage their practice.
(2) Lease agreements shall be made between landowners and the Truk District Chuuk State Government to allow the District Division State Department of Agriculture to cultivate land in establishing demonstration farms and extending training in progressive farming techniques to the lessor and trainees selected by the District Division State Department of Agriculture. The lessor shall provide a minimum of one acre and agree to maintain the farm as a demonstration site for a period of five years. The lessor shall receive 50 fifty percent of the crops harvested by the agriculture extension services and training program.
(3) The District Division State Department of Agriculture shall enroll trainees for the cultivation of the leased land under the instruction and supervision of an agriculture extension agent. To be eligible for the program, a trainee must certify that he holds legal interest in a minimum of one acre of land suitable for cultivation and agree to cultivate the land in accordance with skills acquired during the training program for a period of at least three years. Each trainee shall receive an allowance of 60 sixty dollars per month while engaged in the training program and at the termination of the program receive agriculture tools and materials for the cultivation of his land. Trainees shall be entitled to equally divide 50 fifty percent of the crops harvested under the training program from the leased land.

Editor's note: Section 1 of TDL 26-18 provided for an initial appropriation to begin this program as follows:
Section 1. Appropriation. There is hereby appropriated, out of the General Fund of the Truk District Legislature, the sum of twenty-two thousand dollars ($22,000) for the purpose of funding an agriculture extension services and training program for Truk District.
The District Chief Director of the Division State Department of Agriculture is authorized to administer the funds appropriated by this Act Chapter. The Chief Director shall submit a report and accounting on the use of the funds to the Truk District Chuuk State Legislature on or before May 1, 1977 of each year.
